In its latest analysis, the Covid 19 Prognosis Consortium predicts that the trend in new infections will continue to rise, resulting in a significant increase in the number of intensive care patients.
Experts estimate that their number will have more than doubled from 87 yesterday in two weeks. For September 8, they predict 180 critically ill patients, in addition to 626 patients in normal wards. Thus, more than 800 Covid 19-infected people would be in the hospital again then.
Intensive care unit utilization will rise from 4.2 percent to 8.9 percent of the total reported adult intensive care bed capacity over the next two weeks, according to the experts. Utilization of intensive care beds specifically for Covid 19 patients was already at 13.2 percent yesterday, according to the states.
